Modest Mouse and lightning storms on the Waterfront (Williamsburg - 07.23.10)

Modest Mouse stopped in to play an unfortunately brief set at the Williamsburg Waterfront. Lets clear up the 50 kiloamp air: it was not their decision or anyone else's to make - there was a fair amount of lightning in the area and after 5 songs it threatened the open waterfront venue. Actually, I witnessed quite a bit of lightning, it wasn't just astraphobia that sent the musicians back to their bus. Isaac said that he quite enjoyed dramatic weather to play-in, and that safety wasn't necessarily his first concern. Overall, that made for rather a spontaneous bummer. The band opened with songs from the present golden-era of their career: Good News, We Were Dead, and their latest single series/B-side collection. The View was the highlight performance with Brock shaking his guitar manically up front and giving his trademark shout and hollar'd vocal. Though short and sweet, Isaac Brock and Co. still managed to rally their constituent indie-hipsters (this is Williamsburg after all) and led us rip-roaring and cheerfully through the following selected material:
- Satellite Skin
- Bury Me With It
- Fire It Up
- The View
- Here It Comes

great pics for a 5 song set!
What did you think of More Than Teleportation? I saw Modest Mouse about a week ago. While the setlist was short, it looks like you got some good songs thrown in...
