maybe i'm just slow, but i have recently come across a band that is just fucking brillant. this is the first i've heard of them, but the band Tortoise is beyond me to desribe. Wikipedia describes tortoise as a land-dwelling reptile of the Testudines order. I've been digging the song Seneca on the Standards album for the last couple of days. The dual drumming at the begining of that song is great. the bassist does drum duty occassionally for the double drumming which i really appreciate. we need more bands with more sources for percussion. fuck melody, rythmn is the new melody, not that tortoise do that, they love the melody. The album Millions Now Living Will Never Die features ex-Slint member David Pajo offering bass and guitar.
