Sleeping the Terror Code

W/ Nine Things Everybody Knows introduction

Hope everyone had a good weekend! I was walking around a farmer's market in Union Sq. this weekend listening to Q and not U's formidable first album when they were still a 4 piece. The market was okay, not sure where the produce is coming from exactly, but NYC is probably not the best place to look for freshly grown fruits and vegetables... sorry city. A guy on the #6 train told me to be careful on my skateboard in this city, it is apparently a pretty dangerous place. He told a story about an unsuspecting pedestrian on the edge of a sidewalk he saw beaned by a car. Flat-lander, I said, that is nothing exceptional. For example, in the mystical forests of New Hampshire, I have seen a full grown man dismembered by bears. Do you see any bears down here, I inquired of him? Perhaps in that Central Park? Sort of a facetious response, but I dug the rise out of it. If you are still worried-no, I have not seen a bear attack and I doubt it happens all that much. I have seen my friend's dog go outside to the bathroom and get picked up in the talons of an eagle and carried away. Never to return again. That was screwed up in several ways, but was a good reminder that even today, wild things still exist close to home and outside of human control.

Sleeping the Terror Code, the last song on that album, is pretty moving, but it gets such a boost from the last minute of the previous track's slow interlude that I did some cut & paste here to provide the appropriate segue.
