WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Terrorhawk

A big thank-you to Equal Vision Records for sending me this copy of Terrorhawk with the Michigan band's signatures on the insert. I am very proud to have this in my collection of signed junk, for just how incredibly great and arguably obscure the work is. But mostly for how innovative this release still is. I am a major, albeit late, fan to the Bear Vs. Shark club, but their music is such a sincere and creative sounding endeavor, it is hard to not be amazed by them. This album is pure unadulterated work coming in quick with blasts of joy and panic, but laced amongst the crazy stomper songs are slow meandering tunes about regret and remorse; a truly versatile beast this can be if you give it the time it needs. Not only well thought out as a whole, this album finds a balance not present in many of its peers, whomever they might happen to be. Unfortunately, from my perspective, they broke up in 2005 after 2 full lengths and plenty of touring. I heard of them in 2006 and have been completely blinded by their simply awesome prowess. I would have loved to catch a show, but that seems like it will never happen. Members are in bands currently (Wildcatting, and Bars of Gold), but with extremely sporadic and unreliable releases and appearances at this point make it difficult to follow. The band's enigmatic front man Marc Paffi is responsible for the art found in this insert as well as the cathartic shouted and yelped vocals on this track here posted. Hope you like, 'cause I was sold along time ago…

Coolest lyric (taken from Antwan)

Words, we throw them at each other and mix them altogether, to formulate an opinion without a second thought, my thoughts are yours, your thoughts are mine, we're just divided by words…
