I thought I would share with you a beautiful song by Kinya Dawson. It is one of those songs that I put on when I;m feeling down and it makes me feel a bit better. It is really good for putting your problems in perspective. I listen to it when I get overwhelmed because it makes me remeber that i am only a small person in this world and that compared to others my problems are really nothing. I truly do love this song. Hope you all enjoy it to. Please read the lyrics as they are very poignoit.
When I go for a drive I like to pull off to the side Of the road, turn out the lights, get out and look up at the sky And I do this to remind me that I'm really, really tiny In the grand scheme of things and sometimes this terrifies me
But it's only really scary cause it makes me feel serene In a way I never thought I'd be because I've never been So grounded, and so humbled, and so one with everything I am grounded, I am humbled, I am one with everything
Rock and roll is fun but if you ever hear someone Say you are huge, look at the moon, look at the stars, look at the sun Look at the ocean and the desert and the mountains and the sky Say I am just a speck of dust inside a giant's eye I am just a speck of dust inside a giant's eye
When I saw Geneviève I really liked it when she said What she said about the giant and the lemmings on the cliff She said 'I like giants Especially girl giants Cause all girls feel too big sometimes Regardless of their size'
When I go for a drive I like to pull off to the side Of the road and run and jump into the ocean in my clothes And I'm smaller than a poppyseed inside a great big bowl And the ocean is a giant that can swallow me whole
So I swim for all salvation and I swim to save my soul But my soul is just a whisper trapped inside a tornado So I flip to my back and I float and I sing I am grounded, I am humbled, I am one with everything I am grounded, I am humbled, I am one with everything
So I talked to Geneviève and almost cried when she said That the giant on the cliff wished that she was dead And the lemmings on the cliff wished that they were dead So the giant told the lemmings why they ought to live instead
When she thought up all those reasons that they ought to live instead It made her reconsider all the sad thoughts in her head So thank you Geneviève, cause you take what is in your head And you make things that are so beautiful and share them with your friends
We all become important when we realize our goal Should be to figure out our role within the context of the whole And yeah, rock and roll is fun, but if you ever hear someone Say you are huge, look at the moon, look at the stars, look at the sun Look at the ocean and the desert and the mountains and the sky
Say I am just a speck of dust inside a giant's eye I am just a speck of dust inside a giant's eye I am just a speck of dust inside a giant's eye And I don't wanna make her cry Cause I like giants

Oh my god, amazing doesn’t even begin to describe the Big Day Out, it was by far one of the best days of my life!!! Mum had to work before we could go so we didn’t end up arriving until about 2pm, which was ok, but it did mean that we missed the Butterfly Effect and the start of Evermore, two bands I was rather keen to see. Once we got there though, it was music all day, we caught the end of Evermore, and I must say that they sound great live. After that we headed off to see The Sleepy Jackson, now let me interject here by saying that I am in no way a big fan of The Sleepy Jackson, that’s not to say that I don’t enjoy there music I just wouldn’t call myself a huge fan, but I must say that they are absolutely fabulous live and would encourage everyone to see them. There lead singer also did one of the most unique things I have seen at a concert (I am in no way a seasoned expert, but I am well on my way), he had a Polaroid camera and took photos of the crowd and then threw them to them, strange I know but maybe they just couldn’t afford new drum sticks. After that we headed over to see Eskimo Joe, who were again great live, the lead singer is very energetic and they played all the hits from there latest album as well as an old favourite “From The Sea”. Next was the John Butler Trio, John Butler is a lyrically genius and the boys were great live. After that we were at the business end of the day, the band that inspired me to buy my ticket. The Killers, who I am a huge fan of, did a great set including all there hits from there two albums as well as a couple of album track which i just happened to know all the lyrics to. They were great and i will definitely see them when they do a headlining tour. Next were Jet, who I was happy to see but weren’t really a huge thing for me, and again they did a fabulous job, a little to much screaming if you ask me though. After that was the main band that my mum and I wanted to see, The Muse, and I must say without and bias, that they were by far the best band there performance wise. If you haven’t heard any of their stuff do yourself a favour and go out and discover true musical genius. There lead singer, is not only a phenomenal singer but also a phenomenal guitarist and piano player. Between the three members they were the loudest most exciting band there, they tore the roof down. Apart from the music they also had a light show to match, which was out of this world. This show has definitely cemented the boys in my fav bands list, not to mention one of the greatest to see live. After that astounding performance was the Violent Femmes, the last performance of the night, and they did a great job. With no new album out the boys just played all there hits from the past including, Blister in The Sun, Day After Day and Gone Daddy Gone. I must they that the Violent Femmes without a doubt had the best crowd sing along, the whole crowd sung not only the chorus but the verse of Blister in the Sun to the band. I think that would be the biggest rush to here thousands of people singing your song back to you. Well this is a very quick recap but the day was an absolute blast and would recommend it to everyone. BIG DAY OUT ‘07 ROCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi macabrerose, In which city did you see the show? How hot was it that day?
oh my goshness. You saw all the OPPOSITE bands to me.. mainly. I started with The Spazzys - missing out on Sick Puppies (which I wanted to see) but only because me and my friend were on the barrier and didn't want to lose that position for Evermore or My Chemical Romance. So The Spazzys were okay, then EVERMORE FUCKING ROCKED MY WHOLE DAY! I used to love them but haven't heard em for SO long and I was blown away - their stage chemistry and OH! THEY WERE SO GOOD I CANT EXPLAIN IT! Then we watched My Chemical Romance (a third of the reason I went) and they weren't even that good.. I was more entertained by how many girls got taken out of the mosh haha.. But back to business.. then after My Chem, we went to the next stage to wait (we had waited between sets coz we were at the front..) for the Killers.. and they were AWESOME! Everyone around was screaming out the lyrics to every song! The girl next to you hitting every single note then the guy screaming out the wrong lyrics.. it's all good though coz it's the buzz.. a united cause of great music! Then I wormed my way up and managed to get about 5 rows from the front while waiting for Muse.. and then Jet decided to stop and announce they were not finishing til every one moved back! And of course, all the huge, sweaty, angry guyys waiting for muse got PRETTY pissed (understatement!) "FUCK OFF JET! WE WANT MUSE!!!" "NOT ONES GUNNA FUCKING MOVE OUT! FUCK OFF! MUSE SHITS ALL OVER YOU!" (they were the nicest comments I could think of..) so anyway, Jet finally finished their set and by this time.. I hadn't had water for say.. 3 hours of moshing? I am a retard, I know. But anyways.. I had been waiting for Muse ALL DAY (obsessed fan.. ) then two songs into it I couldn't handle it anymore.. I was scared of fainitng and being crushed, you know? I just charged my way outta there and watched from the steps.. Everyone who saw me barge out just looked at me like I was crazy. "You are leaving THAT spot!? MUSE IS ON YOU STUPID GIRL!" haha. But yeah.. I got to the Cloak room and got my bag (with the water in it!) and just collapsed.. started cying of exhaustion.. it was awesome. Then we (my friend also got out .. it was so weird, we got to the cloak room at the same time even though we'd lost each other in the mosh.) just went home. We were truly fucked. IT WAS THE MOST AWESOME DAY I COULD HAVE EVER OF ASKED FOR! The next ady my Big Day Out shirt smelt SO bad.. because I bought it when i got there and wore it all day then slept in it.. RANK! :D
