another project & yet another ongoing list. two of my big loves: music & movies.so, to start it out a taste of sofia coppola & air. this book had me mesmorized; the viewpoint of adolescent boys who fantasized, and attempted to de-mystify the beautiful sisters on the block. the research and speculation led to a desire to rescue them, and a trading off of songs (a favorite detail of mine) as they strived to communicate somehow. there is so much being said about growing up, the confusion between genders (especially at that age), and the struggle to become a man (mixed with the realization that you cannot save or understand everything). alright, the book geek in me is taking this too far. i will stop with my literary analysis, and my own speculations.sofia coppola's film took it's own snapshot take of the book; capturing all the main elements, themes, and emotions but painted it with unique brush strokes and colored lenses. music again is one of my favorite elements. and, i love the movie just as much as i did the book. this video captures the mood of the the virgin suicides, and takes a completely other perspective -- not the girls, not the boys, but as discarded chewing gum.odd, strange, surreal, and somehow it works.lucy.
