I've heard a lot of Etta James on blues radio, but it's usually in that cliched bawdy blues diva style that Big Maybelle made a career out of and that an endless number of sunday afternoon blooz jams beat into the ground. It never killed me.Anyhow, I just came across an album in the editors picks that sounds more like 50s rock n roll or jump blues. It redeems Etta James for me.
