I first heard of Cracker from a CD my brother gave me back in the mid-90's. I liked them almost right away, but still remember the first time I became "aware" of what a really talented band they are.I was worrking on the computer in an upstairs bedroom of the rustic log home (meaning mice, bats, flies and frozen water pipes every winter) that we had rented when we first moved back to Upper Michigan after twelve years of travels and living away. Kerosene Hat was playing on the CD player and song after song just rocked on and on.After the album finished and I continued to work, I was eventually 'awakened" from my thoughts by another sound drifting upstairs from the stereo. The hidden tracks on the end of the album intrigued me and I became a fan on the spot.I have since bought all of their works, attended numerous live shows, had the band autograph my guitar, and kept up with their music and fans through their website when I'm unable to travel the 300+ miles to their nearest shows.David Lowery's expert writing and musical sensibilities have made him a stand-out among artists of my generation and the same can be said for Johnny Hickman's generousity in meeting with and talking to fans after the show.If you aren't a fan of this band, you should be. Check out Cracker and you'll be glad that you did.-LT
