On June 6, 2007, Bright Eyes was the musical performance on Craig Ferguson's 'late late show.'
I was extremely happy to hear the band play classic cars live and it's definitely one of my favorites from Cassadaga). The non-permanent members of the band are so talented, and the current mix of musicians sounds so perfectly unified. The performance on Letterman two nights before consisted of basically the same group who played with Conor, Mike and Nate in the recent US tour; at the San Diego show (SOMA May 8), Conor extended a thanks to "the best band he's ever played with." That's a pretty big statement. Although the June 6th performance was a condensed version of the giant band that played the tour, they still got the sound down really well. And although I loved the white suit thing Conor and Mike had going on, it was nice to see Conor sporting his signature look again on Ferguson's show. BUT, aside from the wonderful performance by the band, it was still all I could do to keep myself from pulling out my own hair. Craig Ferguson is so abnoxious. Watching his 'late late show' (sidenote-you would think they could come up with a better title...) was like watching the guy in high school who thinks he's funny trying to be hip and witty with the cool kids. It was a mess. I have only watched his show one other time (last time Bright Eyes was on :]) and sadly he was just as bad back then. I feel bad for dissing him. But I guess it's kind of like Mr. George Double-ya: if you suck you're gonna have to deal with the criticism that results :] The Bright Eyes Performance is below-sorry it's such horrible quality. It's the only video of the performance on youtube right now. love.lauryn
