Songs You Should Be Listening To

I went to see the Meatbats play last Monday at Live House enn, a tiny basement club in Sendai. The members are Chad Smith (drums), Kevin Chown (bass), Ed Roth (keyboards) and Jeff Kollman (guitar).
They played maybe all the songs off their new album which is due for release soon, hopefully. Their sound is a fusion of funk, jazz, blues and rock, reminiscent of 70s Detroit music but still fresh and original.
Each member had opportunity to do some ripping solos but as a unit, they're also incredibly tight considering they've only played together as the Meatbats for a short time and have only just started touring.
The standout track for me was 'Night Sweats'; a sweet drum into.
They'll be touring more in the near future so check out their MySpace page for tour dates and album release info.
Hi, work has been insane blah, blah, blah... so I haven't been mogging for a while.
Off to Tokyo to see the RHCP in 15 days and counting! It's at the Tokyo Dome and I am up the front so it should be awesome.
Most of my CDs are back in NZ so I have started downloading my old faves from i-tunes and re-discoverd Blind Melon. I had forgotten how much I liked most of their stuff. My favorite song is Mouth Full of Cavaties at the moment.
Ataxia - Automatic Writing II was supposed to be released in April but I still can't find it anywhere over here and no news on Amazon. If anyone knows of a new release date, can you let me know? No new music from John Frusciante since early 2005 so I am hanging out for this one even though the songs were written back then during the AWI recording sessions.
I'm from Dunedin where the Chills are from and grew up going to their gigs, sneaking into pubs to catch them live, which is when they really shine.
Martin Phillips is still floating around. I think he has done solo work and collaborated with other artists. I wouldn't be surprised if another Chills album came out in the near future. He has a reputation for being a bit of a control freak and perfectionist which has caused a lot of friction with past band members. I can't blame him though and apart from a short period when he bordered on mainstream material, his work has been consistently original and mesmerizing over the years. Pink Frost still makes me think of being a 13 year old discovering alternative music and what my tastes were. His music stands the test of time.

welcome to mog! if you download and use the mogOmatic, it will fill in most of those widgets that are on your mog page. you don't even have to think about it. if you decide that you do not want to use any of those widgets, you can remove them from your page by clicking on the X in the top right corner. if you change your mind, you can add it back from your customize page. oh, and you can also turn mogOmatic off anytime you do not want to use it, so don't be shy with it!
