Songs that make me cry

Posted over 5 years ago
I'm a big crybaby. I cry watching movies, I cry at airports (especially seeing a family reuniting), I cry reading books....you get the picture. No surprise at all that some music makes me teary, blurry, blubbery and sad. When I need a good pity party, here are the songs that I can always rely on:Hallelujah by Leonard CohenCalling All Angels by Jane SiberrySnow Angel by Antonyanything off of The Mission soundtrack by Ennio MorriconeWhiskey Lullaby by Brad Paisley Adagio for strings by Samuel BarberRainy Night In Georgia - the George Jones versionDon't get me wrong, my sad songs are not necessarily 'woe is me' kind of songs - sometimes it's the beauty of the piece (The Mission, Adagio for strings) that overwhelms me.

  2. angeldawn says LOKitty, I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes, I'll be walking on the treadmill and Cat Steven's Morning Has Brocken will come on and my eyes water up as the choir joins in. Listening to my daughter play a particularly beautifulm yet simple, piano piece can produce the same results. The new "Let It Out" Kleenex commercials are too much for me.

  3. Peggah says Adagio for Strings is often used at funerals, so I associate it with sad occasions. And your list is like 1/100th of what mine would be. ;)

  4. lookoutkitty says That is so funny about the "Let It Out" campaign. I laughed when I saw that.. I'd be on that couch for an hour. I'd forgotten about Morning Has Broken, Mrs. Festus taught us that in grade 5 choir. I think I still remember all of the words.

  5. emscee says George Jones recorded "Rainy Night In Georgia"? How did I miss that? On which album? Singers who make me tear up: Billie Holiday, Gram Parsons.

  6. Dale says Mew's "The Zookeeper's Boy" does that to me. And it's prolly just me, but my only exposure to "Adagio for Strings" is from the William Orbit album, where it got the techno treatment, so I think of it as a dance song. I know, I'm uncultured. _sigh_
