This is for SatisfiedMind614, who shares an appreciation for Ween. If you haven't heard them, they're great, over th top at times, but great. A solid introductory album is "White Pepper," which is probably one of the most straightforward albums Ween's every made. I love them, but I have to admit, they can get a little carried away with the sobbing baby noises at times...but don't let that deter you from checking them out - they're well worth it.

This song is actually Ween in collaboration with a few other guys from Japanese experimental noise rock band The Boredoms. Good combo if you ask me. Enjoy!

I didn't know much about Ween until I heard Phish cover one of their songs, "Roses Are Free." I haven't checked out all of their stuff, but they're fun & different. _White Pepper_ is a good place to start for sure.

This track is cool. Thanks!

Woops! So I posted the wrong song. But in my defense, it was my first post ever, so I think I should be allowed some leeway. Anyway, THIS song is La Monogamie, and is I think a much better introduction to Malajube than Le Metronome, which is what I posted earlier. Sorry! Enjoy this one, though, it's fantastic!

haha, well what do I know! It's all good though, I'd recommend checking their site to get a taste for the rest of their music.

I started my mog way back in November, but somehow never got around to posting anything! So here's mog post #1, 3 months later... I'm actually quite new to this, never even blogged before, let alone mogged. I suppose a good mog stays focused on music? Let's see. In that case I should mention I was among the lucky few who got free Sufjan Stevens tickets for his Kennedy Center performance the other week. Lordy lord was it ever good, and all the better after sitting out in the DC cold for hours in line for the tickets. To paraphrase Patrick Bateman, as we neared the Kennedy Center doors I'm on the verge of tears as I'm certain we won't get any tickets. But we do; relief washes over me in an awesome wave...My group was among the very last to get tickets. They literally closed the door in front of me but then let me in when informed I was with the two people just admitted. I can't tell you the panic threatening to overwhelm me in that awful moment. As it turned out, the Kennedy Center people (who happen to be very nice an courteous I might add) let in between ten and thirty more people after I got my tickets, but that's still a tiny margin as far as concerts go. As we drove past the Center doors on our way out of DC I felt a mix of pity for the ranks of people walking off empty handed and pure gloating glee at having tickets myself. As for the concert itself, Mr. Stevens didn't disappoint (except he had no butterfly wings on). He immediately played three songs I wanted to hear, "Chicago," "Casimir Pulaski Day," and "The Predatory Wasp of the Palisades Is Out To Get Us!" all of which sounded excellent. The closer though, a new song to me, was probably the best one performed. "Majesty Snowbird" was an epic song alternating between tempestuous walls of sound and sweet, melodious refrains. If anyone's reading this, can you tell me anything about this song? Where it's from, where I can get it?

Well I think that's about good for my first post. I'll have post again after seeing Malajube next week. btw, anyone seen them live? I'm curious what to expect. From their really creative videos - available at twww.malajube.com - they seem like they'll be a ton of fun, so I'm really looking forward to the show.

Feel better now? Aaah, yes, your first MOG all posted and out on the intrawebnet and whatnot. People keep prodding me towards Mr Stevens, I'll have to try n remember to check him out. In the meantime, LCD Soundsystem has finished so I'll give the very skillfully placed (i haven't worked out how to do it yet) Malajube track a whirl.

Anyway, happy mogging :)
