Hello my Dears... I have been a naughty mogger. I haven't reported on anyone, anything, in quite a while. Its horrific and I deeply apologize as I have been rocking the hell out these last few weeks.
Was lucky enough to stumble on a band by way of D.C called "Donny Hue and the Colors." And while me likes Donny... I have a slight crush for the bassist, Olivia Mancini, who has had her fair share of musical achievements prior to Donny. Like her own band. Which I am liking way better than her current situation.
Sorry kids, you know I am brutal. Someone's gotta be.
Her voice is sincere. Quaint. Easy. Quiet. Soothing. Familiar. Endearing. Natural.
She gave me her EP "The Chatterbox Ep" which is sadly not on here, but her album "This Kind of Life" is. Which is freakin rad. Ok, before I get into "Kind Of," allow me to jock the shit out of "Imperfect," located on the "Chatterbox." Surprisingly Miss Mancini didn't pen this one, someone by the name of Katie Cleary did. " I am imperfect for you..." So true, so true. I just love the production of these songs which is not the same as "Kind Of," which apparently was produced by Randy Scope who is in her band. I like Randy's production.. the levels are cool, in all reality its perfectly done... but there is something about the feel of Chatterbox that I am diggin...
She is super sell-able. I hate that after my stint working at Capitol Records in NY in 2003-04 I see things this way.. I mean, shit, I see myself this way... I am super marketable and so is she.. though I wonder if she wants to be, or cares... cause Ill sell out in a hot minute!!!
The people that took me to this show love her, personally, which is cool. I guess they are friends with her Dad and they really support her music. This gives people like me some hope.
I see bright things for Miss Mancini, and while I know she might be pissed I am not raving about Donny... I just gotta be honest, and when I see someone or something that I think has that little somethin' somethin'.... well shit girl, why try to hide it... rock it.....
