I love that I found my old CD case that contained the likes of some of my previous soulful posts.. one more that totally was over-looked: MAXWELL'S:NOW.
Bombness. Lots of synth. Tons of Soul. Not too much wailing. Lots of horns. Im diggin it.
What I have always loved about MAXWELL, but has also been known to serve as a double edged sword is his melodic "flowness" that sometimes reads and sounds like monotony. NOW you can play straight through... whether you are getting over a broken heart ( me, right now) or making love ( me, hopefully soon).
My favorites include "Noone," and "Get to Know Ya,""Temopraray Night" and my personal anthem for the day "Changed." Cause I went and "changed my mind," motherfuckers (sorry for the angst.)
The hits were " Womans Work," a remake of a classic soul song, but frankly I think MAXWELL hits it.. he sounds like a castrated 12 year old Irish Boy, you know the specials you see on public access TV.. dont lie, we've all seen 'em... and its incredible to listen to and imagine this lanky dude with this voice. No wonder then never did a video as I think MAXWELL does fuck some groupies....wants to continue doing so. The other hit being "Lifetime," which I love, and was the theme song to tons of love movies and inparticular scenes where women are sad and walking in the rain. And then there is "For Lovers Only," which is beautiful and I despise people in love right now; no comment.
Im walking sad in the fog... but aint making love in the rain... so I prefer to listen to some of the other tracks I mentioned.
Im pretty sure MAXWELL fell off, as I sadly haven't heard about anything new, and being a Soul junkie I think I would know, and if YOU know, holla at your girl.

I have to pick up NOW - I have the first two from him & just plain love his flow...
I was sure I had heard something in the mix recently so I checked WIKI & I was right - he's got a big project coming out for us over the next three years...
Maxwell's next project is his fourth album Black Summers' Night. On his myspace Maxwell states that it is a trilogy of albums released over three years, starting in 2008 with Black. The second album, Summers' coming out in 2009 and the third album Night 2010. An audio clip of the song "Pretty Wings" from Black was also featured on his MySpace page in sprng 2008.WIKI QUOTE
He's also on a big tour at the moment -- I know he's coming to the SF Bay Area soon. I wrote an article -- Shades of Love: The 10 Best Love Songs -- and cited "Drowndeep: Hula" as one of the top ten.

Man, I can remember being in high school and a girl I used to talk to in a chat room whose boyfriend was a DJ put me up on Maxwell a couple weeks before his first album dropped.

Thank you for remembering Maxwell. He's back! Did you know that he is on tour now and that hopefully his new CD will be out in March 2009! I'm crossing my fingers on this! I've been totally trying to keep myself pumped this year in blogging and sharing on Maxwell to get this new album! Once I get that album I will be quiet! for awhile! But for now, I will keep on blogging. I miss real music like his! Thank you for sharing!
