This is where I write sometimes. An open-air, rooftop cabana type 3, 4 doors down my apartment building. I'd have to pass winding hallways and climb narrow, steep stairs to get here. Finally writing about seeing My Bloody Valentine in San Francisco 9/30/08(my birthday & my gift to myself). The concert was at The Concourse At San Francisco Design Center which is south of Market Street. I hadn't been to a show there before, let alone knew the venue existed. So I was rooting around what music I have to find a track for my first post. I had a something specific in mind, and it was going to be a truly epic.
As it turns out, I found this BossTones track. And suddenly I want to skate again despite the very real probablilty of bodily harm.
So screw it, I'll try and be clever next time.

I'm a total pushover for South African female singing groups, especially the old-timers like the Dark City Sisters and the Skylarks. This is a gem, from the late Fifties. It reminds me of a round. Miriam's voice is terrific, with just the right breezy, jazzy feel, but it's the interweaving of her line with the other singers' that gives this cut its abundant magic. Now I'm going to shut up, as long as you promise to click on the button....

In the summertime here, the Denver Botanic Gardens hosts a concert series ... a stage is set in the middle of the beautiful landscape at the bottom of a four-sided sloping hill, where people gather with blankets and bottles of wine, crackers and cheese, and full picnic baskets. I was recently asked the question " What is truth?". Wow, this could be a most interesting and deeply philisophical explanation if I could be so bold. What can one say about truth other than it is what one believes to be fact. There in lies the difference, it is what we know to be a fact. People in everyday life just "believe" things to be true without any proof. For example, many of the worlds most popular religions which in my opinion are just a bunch of fairy tales made... MORE

No kidding I just got off the phone with a very old dear friend of mine. My guess is we haven't talked to each other for about .. well close to 4 years. Last time I saw him he was smoking a cigarette on my porch when I came home from work one day. Talk about shock. In that situation you get put on the spot to recount your life thus far since last time you met. "How you doing?" was the question you can't prepare for. What do you say? Anytime I mention Tom Waits to my contemporaries, I usually get a shoulder shrug, face scrunch "I can only take him in small doses" response. Some told me Bob Dylan on his worse day sounds better.
