new year, new soul

Posted about 4 years ago
Yael Naim was born in Paris to Jewish-Tunisian parents. At age four, she moved with her family to Ramat HaSharon, Israel, where she served in the Israel Defence Force and sang solo in the Israel Air Force Orchestra. Naim sings in English, French and Hebrew. She learned to play the piano at a young age. She says, “After I saw the film, Amadeus, there was only one thing I wanted to do and that was to write symphonies.” Her love of classical music eventually faded when she heard the Beatles for the first time. “At home my father would play his Beatles records and that’s how I discovered Sgt Pepper and Abbey Road, at age 12. And also when I forgot my classical ambitions.”Read more about her at her "website":Yael. You've probably heard her hit single "New Soul" in the advertisement for the new, sleek and sexy Macbook Air, and no doubt it has persuaded you to rush out and buy Apple's latest coveted item, but I still prefer the video itself to the commercial:“It was when I was really young that I sincerely believed to be an old soul reincarnated and I could even say it gave me a sense of superiority over others. But then as I subsequently did everything the wrong way round I concluded that it was actually my first time on earth and that I should learn to be a more humble.” - Yael Naim[Yael]http://www.yaelweb.com/biographyy.php

  1. consumerx says That's nice. Her voice has some serious gravity, but then the music is a little funky and playful. I like it.
