    Do You Sleep?
When it's 6 in the morning (like right now) and I STILL can't get my eyes to shut peacefully or my thoughts to calm down, I turn to my iPod for comfort. Here are some of the songs that frequent my iPod during those cold, dark hours of sleepless nights. "Lately" - David Gray"Do You Sleep?" - Lisa Loeb & Nine Stories"Stay" - Lisa Loeb & Nine Stories "Little Star" - Stina Nordenstam"Fade Into You" - Mazzy Star"Talk Show Host" - Radiohead "Wild Horses" - The Sundays "Secret Heart" - Feist"Green Eyes" - Coldplay"We Never Change" - Coldplay"Sweet Child O' Mine" - Guns N Roses (Weird, I know)If I count all of them, can I please go to sleep?

  1. Sturgell says I had the same problem for a while. I was taking sleeping pills and I don't recommend it. That just is poison.

  3. Bartleby says I've been an insomniac since I was 18... Wakefulness is my most faithful companion. Twelve hours of work, and I still can't sleep. Damn! The days go on and on. They don't end. All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. I don't believe that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention I believe that someone should become a person like other people. I first saw her at Palantine Campaign Headquarters at rd and Broadway. She was wearing a white dress. She appeared like an angel. Out of this filthy mass...she is alone. They cannot...touch her. Bernard Hermann's music is just perfect for my nights waiting for the day to come again and start everything again.

  4. lilja88 says Why, thank you for the intriguing comment, Bartleby. I'm not terribly familiar with "Taxi Driver" or Bernard Hermann, I'm afraid. "All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go." I feel that way most of the time, although I'm not always such a restless sleeper. The full moon gets to me. So does being sick. Combine the two and you have a recipe for a very long night.

  5. Bartleby says Well, Taxi Driver is sort of urban "Don Quixote" but with a sort of religious reflection on the USofA after the Vietnam War -- I highly recommend it. As for Hermann, to me he's one the inventive composer ever working for cinema. His score for "Taxi Driver" is like cathedral music. Maybe I'll do a proper post about him.

  6. lilja88 says "Urban Don Quixote." Uh, you wouldn't mind if I borrowed that, would you? For this essay I'm writing? It's for a Rhetoric of Film class, I chose Taxi Driver as my topic (yes, you inspired me to watch it, but it also happened to be on the list of films that my professor recommended specifically for this assignment) P.S. I think you should definitely do a post about Bernard Hermann!

  7. Bartleby says You're very welcome to use it if you want to... Just make sure not to blame me if your teacher doesn't appreciate Cervantes ;)
