I chose to upload this song here because it appears on the new album 'Ours Is The Time' as the last track and it's also nine minutes long. So, I guess it might get overlooked on the album and since I am very happy with it, I would like to share it here. This song was inspired by a party I attended a few years ago in Los Angeles to celebrate the birth of a friends first born child. The host of the party was an eighty nine year old man named Milton who was full of life. He had endured the loss of his wife and son but remained a positive life force himself making a great party for his young friends. This song cycle is indeed about the cycle of life and our perception of time. Musically, it reflects this as well in its change filled journey. After walking around Milton's house and studying the pictures on the walls, many images stayed with me and became incorporated into the lyric as well. This is the story of Milton and his bash in the hills.
Interestingly, it took me a while to contact Milton as I was not sure how he would react to the song. I finally got his number and called. We spoke and I mailed him a copy. Luckily, he loved it. I imagined legal battles and angry family members. Instead, I gained a brother and a friend. Milton just turned 91 and is throwing another party in a few weeks for all his rock and roll friends.
