This week in Newsweek I write about places on the Web to discovery new music, including MOG. The link is

There's also a chart that tells what suggestions of new artists I got when I plugged in names of bands I (as a baby boomer) was familiar with. The tip I got from MOG's person-to--person style was that as a Television lover, I might like The Horror The Horror. Which I did.

My music intensity definitely increased intensely, however, it was more Itunes than IPOD. The ability to have all of your music in one place, sent wirelessly to your stereo is so powerful. I make playlists for dinner with my girl, for a more "world feel" for a folk mood, and create one for when my dad visits. Perfect music for any occasiona you wish - from your music. And, of course, the more you listen to the more you get exposed to, and that makes you want to dig deeper into artists you like (or similar).
I do love my IPOD, especially when travelling/commuting, but for me it's digital music that made the trasformation.

Great article. So which of Pandora, Last.fm, Mystrand and MOG, do you still use a month later? I remember toying with an early versoin of Pandora nearly six years ago. It didn't do much for me, and I got bored. MOG seems to have the most potential, but I have yet to discover any new bands here. The tried-and-true browsing at the record store and reading reviews continues to work for me.

thanks, fasnbulbous. I bailed from mystrand because I didn't want that app popping up every time I fired up iTunes. Pandora is good to parachute into. I want to try to keep up with MOG. There are some new schemes coming up this fall which I'll check into.
