Country Is Cool

Posted almost 5 years ago
I know it's not really a cool way to get into a certain genre of music or anything like that, but I'll be totally honest here. Before I watched Walk The Line I had minimal interest in Johnny Cash or any country music for that matter. But watching that film really did change my non existant perspective on the man and turned me on to country music.I'd never claim to be knowledgeable or at all knowing on the genre, but it seems the more I delve into it, the more I seem to fall in love with it. And that's a very accurate description. I find Carl Perkins to be an amazing guitarist. I find June Carter genuinely funny and charming. I'm reading deep into biographies on Johnny Cash and his band every day. I truly am inspired by the way his live shows were orchestrated.Saying all this. New country music is pretty awful. I still hate Shania Twain with a passion. In other more me related news, I get to pack all my stuff up and move again in a months time. I don't know if I'll have internet (gasp) but it's an exciting move for me. If all goes well, I'll be sharing a house with a very cool friend which totally beats my current situation. Also, Reading Festival is just a short while away. This year will be very good. I can feel it.
