For some reason or other I decided to fill my already strained hard drive the other day with all the CD's I've yet to rip to mp3. Unfortunately for me, my computer is so busted there are certain limitations that it places on me.1. You cannot play any music (or sound) on the computer while ripping the CD. It jumps about all over the place.2. You cannot play Football Mananger 2007 while ripping the CD. It goes slower than Vinny Jones in his twilight years.3. You cannot rip a whole album at a time. Just one track.4. It will take from now through to the rest of my day off.
I'd like to say it's theraputic, but it isn't really. It is cool that I managed to dig out a few old records that I'd totally forgot about, like Deftones' "Around The Fur" and Death Cab's "We Have The Facts..."I also stolen some CD's off a friend and I had never noticed Max Bemis singing the bridge on the Hot Rod Circuit track Inhabit.Talking of Max Bemis..
I'm slightly addicted to Say Anything at the moment. It's rare I get caught up in the headlights of a band that's fairly new and that, but they really are something special.Lyrically a superb album and musically just as good and inovative. Really stand out tracks like "Alive With The Glory of Love", "The Futile" and "Woe" got me into the band, but the song at the end of the album "Admit It!!!" is strangely appealing. The lyrics are strangely reminscent of a conversation I had with a friend when we walked passed a guy of about 18 or whatever, dressed up like all the kids you see at hardcore and alt shows all over the UK (me and my friend my look like that also to an extent). There was eye contact between us and a certain amount of tension and arrogance on both parties as we both said (I can guess) "What the fuck does he look like?" in our heads. He walked on and we talked about how bad it is that we instantly rip apart someone that is essentially the same as us as a reaction. There's no thought about it, it just happens. We're a shallow race people..
But anyway, looks like I may have a few gigs soon, so keep your eyes peeled on the myspace for any details and that!
