WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

In a little town in Massachusetts...

... All my dreams came true. How? You ask? Well.. not only did I get to meet, and greet, my all-time favourite band: Third Eye Blind... but I was handed a backstage, afterparty, all access pass in the MIDDLE of the concert.. which ultimately led to a night of life long memories on a tour bus at Babson College.I had already attended their 10th anniversary shows in San Francisco, and was not one of the lucky MANY to attend their afterparty-- but I was thoroughly satisfied. A rockin, kick ass concert, new songs, a preview of the new album. Two nights of a fucking good ol' time. No meeting, no signed memorabilia.. but great music. There I was, a dedicated fan on a commuter rail bus going to the suburbs of Western Mass. to see the again. This time: a small college concert, in a small gym-sized venue. The set was going well.. I was up front, unlike at the Fillmore, which was nice. Not as many new songs were played, but it was a nice long set with the acoustic couch session, and solos by Tony(on guitar) and Brad (on drums). Again, loving every minute of it, and happy to be yelling the words to every single song at the top of my lungs.Suddenly, theres this guy standing on teh other side of the gate, looking at me.. I had brought a camera when they were strictly prohibited so I was expecting him to bust me. He just continued to stare and eventually walked away. I hadn't noticed him amongs the other security personnel, but I shrugged him off once he left.A minute or two later, the same guy is back, standing right in front of me.. and he begins to approach me. I'm slightly stunned and definitely shocked when he hands me a fabric sticker that says "THIRD EYE BLIND April 21 2007" and on the back: Access Pass. He hands one to my best friend standing and singing right along with me.. and we freak out. What is this? Is this a Backstage pass?? Is this a sticker?? A simple little giveaway that he only happened to give to two girls, and no one else. It had to be more. The people around us were staring at us like we struck gold, and then rubies, and emeralds. The rest of the concert rocked, and I held onto that little piece of fabric like it was my life. Stephen Jenkins definitely looked at us several times and so did the bass player, Leo, who I met at SF.After the show, we approached some Babson College students to inquire about the passes. They knew nothing. They tried telling us that the guys were probably already on their tour bus, and likely gone. We decided to stick around and take our chances.Soon, about 20 more girls were lined up behind us, with the same passes, and I started to get doubtful. The group of girls were led backsatge and asked to wait. We watched the crew dismantle the set which was interesting.. and couple girls started to leave. They had us held up in a hallway while the venue cleared out, and people were getting impatient. All the while, we still were not sure what these passes meant. Then, the guy who gave me the passes showed up and we introduced ourselves. I asked if he remembered me, and he said "I just handed you that pass, of course I remember you." :)!We talked to this guy, Bobby, and it turned out he is their stage manager. He said the passes were for us to meet the guys. Soon, he gathered us, and we headed out to their TOUR BUS. He told us that the crowd already waiting their were just fans getting autographs, and that we were to wait by the bus.Ultimately, the guys came up to all of us and met us, outside the bus.. and they met all the other girls too. We made friends with Bobby at this point and asked him what was really going on. Bobby says "I think they're making their final decisions." Turns out, the guys were picking chicks to come onto the bus with them for a little afterparty.Me and my friend were the first girls on.I spent the next 2-3 hours getting to know the most amazing musicians of my day.. I couldnt believe any of it was happening, and when I woke up the next morning, I was surprised that it was no dream. Reality: I made friends with the band I love, who make the music I love. I made lifetime memories that I will think about every second for the next month. This definitely won''t be the last time I get to chill with those fellas, which made this night so untouchable. I thought it would be a one-time sort of thing, but we were invited to come back to all the shows, anytime. True fans. True, true, dedicated fans.Ohhhh the stories.. the memories.. the secrets of that pimpin tour bus.Nothing is impossible.
