Music of My Heart

What else is there to do on a rainy/icy Thursday afternoon, just after you've found out you've failed another chem test, and you've forgotten to get a guest pass for your friend this weekend, and you've realized your life is a sad sad mess?Nothing.... except wallow in your depression, throw a heavy drink together, and let the music bleed for you.Beverage: Vodka(again, high tide) + pomegranite cranberry juice + orange juice = :)Music: :( mixUsually, I would never recommend Dashboard Confessional, unless you're in a very emotional, heart on the table kind of mood, and that mood I am in. So for those "emo" states, lets admit, DC is not the worst of music. Cheesy, overrated, yes, but at least we're not listening to Yellowcard? Agreed? If you're looking for a slightly more respectable still emotional, and alternative music experience my pic of this post will have to be Death Cab for Cutie, and secretly the Phatom of the Opera, if any of you caught the title reference.Ben Gibbard has a talent, lyrically, to sing about abstract images relating to his personal life, but somehow we can all empathize. The mood created by the whirring sounds and pleasant melodies of power chords can be just the right concotion for the gloomiest of days.Plans was disappointing, I felt that more of the songs on Transatlanticism were likable and better produced. Although, Plans definitely has a different message/feel to it. Perhaps my rainy day, solemn mood is assimilating with the slow guitar riffs and soft spoken verses. None the less, a great dark day album. Here's a snipet:
