TAKE OFF YOUR SOCKS LEST THEY BE KNOCKED

Does anyone know who Death in Vegas are signed to

Posted over 2 years ago
I am going round in circles here. Their website doesn't seem to exist. Their myspace suggests "The Lab", which doesn't appear to help. Their CD is being sold on echospin...which also doesn't seem to help. Other suggestions are "continorooms" ... again website seems to be dead. All I want is to figure out how to license a track from Satan's Circus, how to do the right thing and pay the rights... I'm usually quite good at locating this kind of information but right now I keep drawing blanks. I've just written to mcps-prs in the hope that they might be able to help. Not expecting an answer from them (and I haven't been disappointed) I also left a message on their myspace. Nothing! This is the song I'm trying to license:

I apologize for the desperate plea for help...but yes, i'm now getting desperate!

  1. Bartleby says Not sure about this. According to eMusic, "Satan's Circus" appeared on Fuel 2000. You may want to check with them to license the Candie above. http://www.fuel2000.com/ Good luck ;)

  2. lampgirl says Aaaah, thank you dear Bartleby. Yes, I did the same check on emusic too. They mention fuel2000 and DRA something or other. Checked both out. Fuel reconstructing website and haven't yet responded to me. DRA did actually respond, saying it's not theirs and suggesting I try sony...it's not on their catalogue as far as I can see. Do people do this on purpose? Make licensing works as difficult as possible so they can then sue you? Or are Death In Vegas perhaps now self-publishers following the DIY music model? Perhaps they're on holiday and forgot to put their auto-reply on.... Anyway...I thank you!

  3. Bartleby says Hang on a second, I've checked on Amazon.co.uk. The album was released on the lable Drone. Now I'm sure I've confused more than you were before... I'm lost myself in all this. Why not drop a mail to the Music Publishers Association to seek advice? Best of luck.

  4. lampgirl says haha! I know, every search I do turns up a different label. Incredible. So glad it's not me, thought I'd lost my touch... I'll try MPA and see if they can help. Thank you.

  5. dachmo says last thing I read is that they released 2004's "Satans Circus", after getting dropped by Concrete/Sony, on **their own imprint named Drone Records**, Not the German co. Drone Records.

  6. lampgirl says OK, The Drone lead is helpful. It lead me to "a different myspace for death in vegas":myspace. So I'll try them... and keep searching for a non german Drone Records. Thank you both...I bet you're dying to know I'll report back with update. [myspace]http://www.myspace.com/deathinvegasofficial

  7. Anna says I don't mean to confuse you more...wiki says what dachmo says, but when you look for the album itself, it gives Sanctuary as a label. Hm. I guess if you come in touch with their own label, Drone, they will clear things up. G luck!

  8. soulrocket says good luck, lampgirl. i am on the same process at the moment, licesing a couple of tunes from lee fields to release them on 7". first time for me too. i believe there is no need to contact the artist first to license a song, the RIAA (in the states) will do it for you.

  11. Max Load says Just come across your post. Hope this isn't too late for you. Ian Button, who goes my the name of Planet Anderson used to play guitar for them. Probably still does. You could try to contact him at http://www.planetanderson.co.uk/. He might be able to put you in touch.
