We will be fine

How many of you listen to Teddy Thompson? He's got one of those voices that just rips my heart out. I've wondered before how voices like that come about. He does have great lienage with Richard and Linda Thompson for parents. He's got a lovely speaking voice - the british lilt and all that. But there is something about him when he sings that could make a girl melt. I'm sure he'd laugh if he saw this, cause I work for the guy and it's therefore kinda funny that I'm admitting this. Anyway, I've been listening to "Tonight Will Be Fine" a whole lot over the last few days. He played it live at a Leonard Cohen Tribute in Australia that was recorded, turned into a documentary and then a soundtrack. Listening to Teddy sing "And I know from your eyes, And I know from your smile, that tonight will be fine for a while" is somehow very comforting. If you are a fan, you already know his latest, Separate Ways. The first time I ever heard the title track was well before album release and fell rather near to a fairly rocky breakup. It was one of those songs that hit me in a moment... it will most certainly tear your heart out and might even make you cry, but you'll come out the other end a dedicated Teddy fan. Anyway, he's been across the pond more this fall than here in NYC, but he's coming back soon. He'll be out on the road for a few dates with Emmylou Harris and we're hoping he'll have an NYC date here or there.
