This is the last one tonight, I promise...
It's likely that you haven't heard of this next guy. He's not signed, he doesn't have an album for sale, and he's not on tour. He is based in NY - Brooklyn to be exact - and has one of those voices that will perk your ears up a bit. His lyrics are touching and familiar - his voice goes from soft and sweet to powerful and commanding. I highly recommend that you check him out as I'm certain that we'll be hearing more from this guy in years to come. His website is currently under construction, but you can hear a few of his tunes and sign up for his mailing list through his myspace site. If we're going for full disclosure, he's also a friend of mine and that one person that I'm always destined to run into on the L train. Okay, and I sang back up for him once and will hopefully get to again someday!

Ok - so I'm back and I just can't stay away;)
Etienne de Rocher is a Bay-Area based Singer/Songwriter that I first heard about 6 or 7 years ago. He didn't have a release yet, but there was a demo floating around and one of the A&R guys in my office (and former booking agent for Yoshi's) was a fan. He slipped me a copy and I quickly became a huge fan. I searched all over, hoping for a release, more tunes, New York gigs - but found nothing. So, here I am, roughly 7 years later, and I just discovered his debut release. I have no idea what made me search for him again, but as soon as I found the record, I ordered it from the Fog City Records site and 3 short days later the disc showed up at my door. I love his voice just as much today as I did then and the melodies are even stronger. Find more out about him here or here

i've lived in the bay area the last 6 or 7 years, and i barely recognize that name (if that's any consolation?) i even lived right down the street from yoshi's! good to see you found him and have revived your ears with his melodies and voice. and lady - you just added some big big tunes to your collection! skatalites, desmond dekker, toots!!! my heart flutters... enjoy! welcome back to mog.
Hey MOG world! It's been a long long time. I've sorry I've been so silent. This working for yourself thing is far more work than I ever expected, but man what a great ride;).
Anyway, down to business. Have you heard Jessie Baylin? I initially found her through John Mayer's myspace site - she toured with him a bit. More recently, she has been working with my friend and former client, Jesse Harris. I just got her EP but apparently she isn't repressing them, so if you want one I would suggest going to her myspace page and ordering one pronto. You can also check out her tunes there. My current favorite is "Contradicting Words" - check out that guitar part... so pretty and entracing;).
So, hello again fellow MOG-ers - I may not be here all the time, but I'll try not to be gone for so long next time. Take Care and sleep well all!

where have I seen that guy?!
Sticking with full disclosure...He's a friend of mine also and a true talent. I fortunately have the pleasure of playing with him frequently and I'm still touched by his voice / artistry. His site just went live...you can check him out at Matt Cranstoun's site
