WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

two greek very old 'blues' songs..

  • Artist:
    Antonis Diamantidis (dalikas)
  • Track:
που να βρω γυναίκα να σου μοιάζει (where to find a woman like you)

i discovered two authentic editions of two greek songs from some people who were born in the 'great greece' places, meaning the minor asia shores and were transfered in main land after the war where they created a whole movement of music and life style, and i want to share it with you and hear how you will feel hearing them. A lot of people related the styles with the original blues and maybe there is connection there, regarding the years and the social circumstances, but this is a discussion still going on and it has much wealth and much to give, personal opinion..i f you want to learn, or start to learn about all this thing, i give you a link in wikipedia, where officially they also say that the article needs enrichment:

http://en.wikipedia.org./wiki/Rebetiko

i give you the songs and i really would like to see the reactions..

the first one is by Antonis Diamantidis, known as dalikas, (haha! means the truck driver or owner) and the title means where can i find a woman like you, to resemble you, and the second is by Yiovan Tsaous, a legendary figure, and the title means the guys, the tough guys probably, are complaining..(about some good grass that is)..enjoy!

i hear some blues influence in there

but to me it seems more like just greek traditional music.

i have not much experience with the greek blues :-)

    it was good though

mmm..i 'd agree, because i too say to my friends here that we can relate the social circumstances, and even there only remotely, maybe some sentimental coincidences, but the whole thing is a totally different hearing..some moments yes, i agree..the only thing is that because i know the traditional greek music i find this here different too, anyway, it's an original creation and i like it as it is, it's no need to put it in boundaries and find similarities with anything else, because it has its own value as it is, no? as for the greek blues, there is no such a thing, when they say that they mean the rebetiko song, two of the samples i give you here, the condemporary blues songs in greek that may have resemplance with the blues or use the tones and the style of blues are again another creation, having its own value  as it is..blues were born in U.S in the certain time and in certain place by certain people and it is irreplacable and unrepeatable..and.. we  love blues..no?

the blues are definitely a music born of the mississipi delta and the oppression of a people.

    but

i think there is a trace of blues in almost ALL music of today

    well "good" music anyway.

    well written
