WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Return of the Mogger

Posted over 3 years ago
Sup? It's been awhile. I was doing stuff.Construction on the Def Star began again after hiatus. It looks like Mog hasn't updated a lot of things automatically in a while (unless it grabbed "You Could Have It So Much Better" off my iPod [named "Rich Man's Eight Track Tape" after the Big Black album] from two days ago.) Song 10,000 was Def Squad's "Can You Dig It," featuring a sample from the movie (and much later, videogame) The Warriors. Def Squad was a bit of a rap supergroup with Erick Sermon (of EPMD,) Kieth Murray (of his own damn self) and Redman, who probably refers to himself as Reggie Noble as often as he does his no de gorilla (let the monkeys out, Reggie! Let the monkeys out!) Rappers using their real names. I know. Kieth never had a pseudonym. Always said he liked his own name.Song 11,000 was Cap'n Jazz's "Easy Driver." Their cover of the 90210 theme song was just one track away! Cap'n Jazz is a very mid-90s Chicago indie band. They broke up, got a healthy case of self-importance (tm Bono) and went on to form Joan of Arc and The Promise Ring. Ah, when emo was new...I have a row and a half of CDs left to rip. We're nearing the end people. Before I finish up the CDs I will need to dig through some closet boxes and various and sundry drawers (on second thought, my drawers aren't sundry) to find the various burnt CDs and CDs that used to be mine on loan and are now just mine.

  1. I'm a Believer says Welcome back! I loved Def Squad, haven't heard of them in awhile and what is up with Erik Sermon these days? I am going to see Red Man in SF soon.
