Tilly and the Wall

Posted almost 6 years ago
Yeess, finally a good band in South Florida playing, it happens all too rarely. I was beginning to wonder if good bands even knew we existed. Tilly played last night, I was able to see them. The location was Studio A, a very nice venue in a very bad neighborhood. I was stopped multiple times by homeless, crackheads, and homeless crackheads on the way to the venue, and also when I walked a few blocks to get quarters for the meter. They put on a great show, with two opening acts, both of which were good. The first act, whose name escapes me, was a single guy who played a variety of instruments and recorded them on the spot, then repeated the sounds as he added more instruments. Very entertaining, wish I remembered his name. After that were two guys, whose name I also forgot. Slightly reminscent of Two Gallants, but not really... They were enjoyable, but not effective in getting us in the Tilly mood, which is the happy, upbeat kind of mood that you expect. After about two hours or so Tilly came on. Apparantly two of the members weren't feeling too good, but they still put on a good show for about an hour and a half. Although the show was 16+ with some very rude teenagers between songs (show us your tits, tapdancer is hot, etc) the band was still interactive with the crowd, especially the blonde, who had no problem responding to the rude remarks(Kianna, I think). They sounded great and had the opening duo come on for a few songs to play. After they played the set they walked off, and of course came back on with applause to play 3 requested songs by the audience. The last was Nights of the Living Dead, which was the most momentous of the evening, with everyone dancing and screaming lyrics.
