WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

a bit of serendipity

Posted over 2 years ago
I had some good karma stored up at the local record store, even though I hadn't been in for months. I fell in love with CocoRosie this past week, and decided I needed some on vinyl. What do I find a few records into the bin? Noah's Ark. It's been such a sexy, happy Spring weekend! I love their voices - sometimes childlike, sometimes operatic, sometimes tribal. Sometimes Bianca is like a Native Billie Holiday. The music is enchanting, haunting, sexy, playful. It comes from somewhere deep, it's genuine. And Dave didn't mind that I played it over and over, in fact encouraged it. This is good. Check out this clip, it's great. Note the people who get on towards the end.

  10. Blue Meenie says That was beautiful! It's too bad it's kinda lo-fi, but genuine they are. I love her getting into the vibe (right after she picks up the harp), swaying and humm/singing....I think I'm going on a CocoRosie hunt :-)))

  11. kristiana says I dig the lo-fi. And the seemingly stream of consciousness lyrics. DO it! Do you suppose Mike was saying that I'M crazy/rustic? lol

  12. Mike the Knife says Crazy like a fox! And rustic like a noble woman of letters who chooses to live away from the madding crowd and in harmony with nature...

  13. kristiana says sweet! Mike, somehow in one of my frenzies of parring down my "trusteds" you got swept away in the madness, I hadn't even noticed as I was always reading your posts anyway. Will have to rectify this. Then again, there are some of you whose posts inevitably end up top today, so I don't miss much! Noble woman hey? hahaha! if you could hear me when I'm drinking!

  14. Mike the Knife says Flattery will get you another "Like It," kristiana. Anyhow, as you said, you know where to find me and the rest of us. Down the hatch!
