The Name Of This Band Was Talking Heads

Posted almost 5 years ago
Another recent YouTube discovery which apparently no one has posted yet:Here's the backstory: In 1980, in support of "Remain In Light", the Talking Heads toured Europe, Asia and North America as the "Talking Heads Expanded Edition". Supplemented by Bernie Worrell (keys), Dollette MacDonald (vox), Steve Scales (perc), Busta Jones (bass) and the inimitable Adrian Belew (l. guit), this represented the Heads in their most talent-heavy incarnation. It's also one of the funkiest, most rhythmic bands to have existed on planet earth. The 'official' document of this tour is disc 2 of the live album "The Name Of This Band Is Talking Heads", recorded at dates in NYC and Tokyo and also featuring Nona Hendryx on backing vox. Re-issued last year in a remixed and extended package, it's a must have.Apparently, they also recorded a TV special in Rome, which thanks to the good graces of YouTube and some bootleg outfit known as Osky Productions, is now available for your viewing pleasure.Track List:Psycho KillerStay HungryCitiesI ZimbraDrugsTake Me To The RiverCrosseyed & PainlessLife During WartimeHouses In MotionBorn Under PunchesFor me, this is absolutely riveting. Although not nearly as polished as "Stop Making Sense", this set explodes with crazy (probably coke-fueled) energy. I'm awestruck.
