Cody B's post yesterday about Johnnie Taylor reminded me of this gem, recorded in Europe on the Stax '67 tour:Words fail me at this moment.

  1. Cody B says Some folks just have it. Otis had it. Is this whole show on DVD somewhere? That was very, very cool!

  2. kmeaston says Sadly enough, there doesn't seem to be a DVD available of this '67 Europe tour. The only place I've seen this video before was on VH1 Classics, which has a lot of live performances culled from various European television shows (Old Grey Whistle Test, etc.) The "Live In Europe" CD is culled from performances on this tour, but the sound quality isn't nearly this good, unfortunately. If you haven't seen it yet, I can't recommend disc 2 of "The Complete Monterey Pop Festival" highly enough. Otis rips through an amazing set, and it's got Hendrix on it to boot.

  4. Michael Lydon says Absolutely fabulous!! God bless Otis Redding! I saw him perform once, at the Monterey Pop Festival in 67, and he was the greatest. So handsome, sexy, confident, full of fun and humor. What a voice, what a communicator!! Thanks for posting that film!!

  5. chickhabit says Wonderful. I wish more of this footage would start surfacing from the basements and vaults they must linger in. it also makes me very excited for the 50 Years of Stax show happening this summer at the Hollywood Bowl.
