As I gradually emerge from the musical cocoon I've inhabited for the past 15 years or so, I make certain discoveries. Some happy and fortuitous, some not. Rob Thomas, the creator of the show "Veronica Mars," has talked about how music functions as an additional character on the show. I discovered a ton of terrific artists by watching that show, which is why I actually bought the soundtrack CD--something I've never done before.
