Last night two of the coolest bands in the world joined forces, as Spoon and ?uestlove of the Roots performed together on Fallon. Sure, ?uestlove's contributions were minimal compared to his usual unstoppable performances with hip-hop acts, but it was still pretty cool to see regardless, and yet another sign of the Roots' rapid embrace of indie rock. Also, is anyone baffled that Spoon is going to open for the Arcade Fire at Madison Square Garden tonight?!

Elsewhere, the legendary Herbie Hancock stopped by Letterman, getting a little help from blues vets Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi. This was a much better way to show off Hancock's versatility than the title track to The Imagine Project, moving away from soft jazz to some funky blues. Rounding things out on a low note, we're shocked that the Black Crowes have been together two decades, and Jimmy Kimmel is apparently spending all week promoting the awful, awful, soundtrack to the Step It Up 3D. Awful.
