Yes yes, we are past hump day but hasn't this week felt like it's been going on forever? We've had a rough go of it recently, and it's time to polish off the records to cheer our sad selves up. Let's get to it!
Old School: Front Page -- "Love Insurance"
Technically the work of vocalist Sharon Redd (criminally uncredited on the vinyl), this is one serious monster of an old school jam. More recently, the song's gotten a second life as a sample in Pase Rock's "So Fucking Disco."
New School: Hercule and Love Affair -- "Blind" feat. Antony Hegarty
If you're looking for the song that truly blew the lid off the new disco movement, you've found it. It was ubiquitious in every club imaginable, drew universal praise from critics, stayed in the ears of listeners forever. With his Hercules and Love Affair project, mastermind Andy Butler managed to fuse his love of New York House and Disco into a slick contemporary revival that's moved far beyond his own ambitions.

Great percussions on the Sharon Redd track..I love when a band is playing on disco cuts..there is joy in repetition..as someone said once. TAFKATAFKAPrince, I believe.
Been diggin the Herc..kinda points up the small line between Depeche Mode and Disco..
