A Treasure Trove of New Halloween Music

Well, tomorrow is Halloween, but today is not only the day that teenagers go out destroying mailboxes... it's a time for musicians to unleash some creepy new music! While there are plenty of Halloween standards out there (check Cody's blog for some of the funkier selections), this year has seen an especially large amount of Halloween-centric music and mixtapes. Here's a quick sampling:
Fever Ray (aka one half of Swedish duo the Knife) is sort of creepy year-round, so we imagine that Halloween is like Christmas for her or something. Anna has already thrown up her newest eerie music video, and you've definitely got to check out the Halloween mixtape that's linked in there as well.
A few other Halloween-centric videos are making the rounds... Ghostface Killah's "Ghost Stories" are absolutely hilarious and not to be missed, while the new video from High Places is just straight up nightmare fuel (in the avant-garde sense, of course).
On the more nostalgic side are a few horror-movie inspired instrumentals and mixtapes: buzz-heavy dance project Memory Tapes made a free 17-minute track as a tribute to Halloween movie scores, and it's just another notch of his belt of great releases this year. Personal favorite Tensnake (who you really should hear if you like dance music) is also giving away a "balearic gore" song inspired by the movie Zombie 2. Perhaps the most ambitious of all this music, though, is dance man Hugo Capablanca, who created an entire score for the movie Lucifer Rising, which you can hear on excellent radio show Beats in Space.
What to do with all of this music? I suggest playing it all while you watch the video below on mute.

nice finds! the video is such a bonus. i know where i'm stealing all my future dance moves from.
Big Body! Small head! Eeek..
Oh, did I say the High Places video was nightmare fuel? Maybe I meant the pumpkin dancer if you're listening to Fever Ray at the same time.
On that tip, I just posted my Dia De Los Muertos vid if you wanna check it out. It was directed by Vaj Potenza (My Brightest Diamond's Freak Out Gold Chains Remix), and the song, my freaky lap steel heavy cover of Beethoven's Fur Elise, was produced by Mike Slo Mo Brenner (Marah, Jason Molina)
