WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

The Obligatory Top 10 Albums of 2006 List

Posted over 2 years ago
I don't know about you, but composing this year's list of top 10 albums has proven more difficult than usual. There were a lot of solid albums released in 2006, but few stellar ones. I think this is illustrated by the fact that people's end-of-year lists don't overlap all that much - friends and music critics alike. So with that in mind, here are my top 10 albums of 2006 (in no particular order):1. Joanna Newsom Ys2. Viva Voce Get Yr Blood Sucked Out3. Band of Horses Everything All The Time4. The Decemberists The Crane Wife5. Jenny Lewis & the Watson Twins Rabbit Fur Coat6. M. Ward Post-War7. Tapes 'n Tapes The Loon8. The Essex Green Cannibal Sea9. Built to Spill You In Reverse10. Peter Bjorn and John Writer's Block

  2. pony apprehension says i completely agree on the whole solid but not stellar aspect to the year. in most years there are three or four albums that i know i will *love* until i am a very old and senile woman. and this year there was really only one (elvis perkins' "ash wednesday"). the rest of my top albums of the year are great albums, but not necessarily ones that got in my guts for all time. maybe i'll just have to try harder this year!
