  4. leftoverking says ahh duboce... i'm getting flashbacks from zeitgeist on valencia and duboce. the first time i went to that bar my loaded friend jill knocked over three motorbikes outside. (not a good way to introduce yourself at a biker bar) the second time i went there my friends and i sat at a table under the tv. we sat down and the whole bar tuned and looked at our table. i thought they were tripping on my friends and i, but they were all there to watch the simpsons. (whew!)

  6. slrevare says I'm making my way through your posts. :-) Murmur was one of the first discoveries of my musical awakening. I used to listen to "Radio Free Europe" on KLZR out of Lawrence, KS. It was a great station. I can actually say I have been an REM fan since the early days. Saw them in Bloomington, IN a couple of years later with 10,000 Maniacs opening for them. I still listen to Murmur all the time. One of my all time favorites, both for nostalgic reasons and I just plain like it. Auditory equivalent of comfort food. Back when Michael Stipe used to bury his vocals, claiming it was no more important than any of the other tracks. I loved that for some reason. They played Kansas City one year, a big arena show, which is not my style, and then they headed to a small venue to hear Richard Thompson. Delayed the Thompson show for 2 hours waiting on them. I loved that too, for some reason.
