WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

A Joy to See Jolie

Posted over 2 years ago
Thanks to Mog, Jim and I had a killer time last night seeing Jolie Holland at the very-crowded-but-sweet-crowd at the legendary Fillmore, my most favorite venue in town. We were close up, about 8 layers back. Only good things happen here.Jolie's sound was full, her voice luscious and strong, her musical talents oozing from the piano, the violin, the guitar. Her backing band of horns, strings, bass, drum were all fantastic and comforting. Wow. We were really, really blown away.A blink and my son is now slowly tearing up the living room or else this would be a more coherent write up, but it's 9 am and we need to get our butts in gear and go watch Jim, who's out surfing Ocean Beach. Midlake afternoon show tomorrow. More glory ahead.

  8. Lord Alfreston says I love Midlake, missed them in the UK, Cornwall's off most band's radar unless you like Jack Johnson or Donavan Frankenfeiter, which I don't and I'm a surfer. Anyway what I'm trying to say is what were Midlake like?

  9. kb says midlake is paddling out, and waiting and looking around and seeing your old friend next to you, riding a board you loaned him six years ago, then sharing the wave, no barrell, but a long, smooth ride. : )

  10. Lord Alfreston says Just how I imagined. I can sleep happy tonight.
