Two Current Obsessions

Posted about 4 years ago
Sorry it's been a long time since I've updated, I kind of forgot about it with exams coming up. I had a fantastic post that I wrote earilier about the same topic I'm addressing now, but my internet freaked out and closed on me before I could post it. So sorry if this is kind of blah and not very interesting. I wrote it in like 10 minutes or something haha. To answer an issue that was addressed before me on my last post, no I am NOT promoting anything for profit, doing endorsement or working for anyone. I'm a fifteen year old girl...16 this January... who just writes little posts about bands I've recently discovered. Sorry for any confusion. Well, I don't necessarily have any "new raves" about certain bands, but I have discovered two thing that make my love for indie music even greater.Thing number one: The "Indie Feed" iTunes podcast. Genius idea right there people. Basically, each podcast introduces one song, and afterwards a description of the band is given and tells you where you can find out more about them. It's simple and free, and completely legal. I mean, it's free music from great bands. The recent podcasts feature bands like The Ex-Boyfriends and The Stitch Up. And it's not just one genre that's featured. Included is alternative, modern rock, blues, electronica, hip hop, and indie-pop from different underground artists. Just another thing that makes discovering new music simplerSecondly is the XM station XMU. Ahhhh, finally, I can listen to GOOD music when I'm in the car. My iPod hook up is broken and I don't feel like buying another one, and the radio stations featured in Atlanta are just BLAH. The stations play some music that I like, modern rock, alternative, light rock, that's all good, but it's the same songs over and over again. I'm not sure if XMU is going to play the same 20 songs like other stations do, but at least it's music that I'm actually into. Independent, college, and unsigned artists. Recently I heard songs from Spoon, Tilly and the Wall, and The Shins. I think most people these days subscribe to some digital music service, or maybe I'm wrong about that, but if you happen to have XM, check out XMU. Tata,Katie Van

  1. brittanybf says Even if you wrote this in 10 minutes, your post is far from uninteresting, as I've recently received an ipod and am now on the look out for podcasts that may interest me. i think the indie one sounds like a promising one, so thanks for making me all the wiser. And you should be so honored that people think you're endorsing bands, when you're really just showing some love to your personal faves. way to go, katie van!
