WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Tonight There's Gonna Be Trouble

I'll admit that I don't know that much of Thin Lizzy's material, but "Jailbreak" has always been one of my favorites. I used to like "The Boys Are Back In Town" but it has gotten _so_ played out. The only other track that I can think of is "Whiskey In A Jar," which I also enjoy (both the booze & the song :o) Heh - you know it's a Friday when you're thinking about drinking in the AM. BREAKOUT!I've never seen any footage of Thin Lizzy before this clip, but I was instantly charmed by the lead singer & bassist. His shades are kick ass. A quick trip over to "Wikipedia":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thin_Lizzy informed me that his name is Phil Lynott, but sadly he passed away due to drug abuse (like so many others). They mentioned some solo work that he did with Mark Knopfler, so I'm definitely going to have to check that out.

Happy Friday Everyone!

  5. mister gary at work again says Seriously, the Jailbreak album is one of the best records I've ever heard. Both "Cowboy" and "Emerald" are rock tracks of epic magnitude. Good stuff.

  9. d0gstar says check out Live and Dangerous, and Black Rose by Phil and the boys too. Sorely underappreciated - they should be known for a lot more than The Boys are Back In Town

  10. Spike says Thin Lizzy had a great sound, standard-issue but not stale. It's good to find out that "The Boys Are Back in Town" wasn't their only musically successful song. The video lets us look at them without a lot of exhausting cuts and close-ups. The lead singer had so much to be grateful for and to look forward to.

  11. Spike says Curious about "Cowboy Song," "Emerald" and "Black Rose," I just checked to hear what smidgens of those songs iTunes offered for free listening, and was disappointed at how consistently iTunes chose the wrong moments.

  12. Mike the Knife says "Jailbreak" was always my fave Thin Lizzy song. "Break out!" (It was off their best album, too.)

  13. kat3260 says Thanks for the recommendations dogstar. I'm looking forward to checking out more. Spike - I don't use iTunes, but those little clips are rarely good representations of the songs.
