Thank you to the Mog Collective - 2nd ed.

I have caught the Ryan Adams bug, and I must express my gratitude to you all for passing on this affliction. It took me until _Easy Tiger_...specifically "Halloweenhead". WOW. This song has gotten so many plays in the past 7 months. I still get a thrill when I hear that intro bell chime...and the fact that he announces the guitar solo makes me smile every damn time :O)After I was satisfied that _Easy Tiger_ was completely absorbed, I moved on to the subsequent _Follow The Lights_ EP, and so on and so forth through his catalog (with the Cardinals and solo releases). I can now say without hesitation that I am a full-fledged fan of his, and I _*must*_ see a performance. MUST.So I will say again, I am forever grateful to the mog-i-verse for continuing to praise this artist until my ears were finally able to hear his greatness. And to quote the man..._"I'll probably hate it next week, but now I just love it. Woo-hoo! Turn on the faucet and let the tub overflow."_ --Blender, Aug/Sept 2001

  2. Lizziegreeneyes says *SunnyH:* I suggest you check out Rock n Roll first... he's louder & bigger & just plain fabulous - then you'll find you're ears will still perk with the softer side of the Adams whose first name begins with *R* not _B_ ;)

  3. kat3260 says It's a great clan to be in, and it will be even better when his tour bus rolls through the eastern US :)

  4. Anna says Too many EMCDs around here...it's no longer safe! *runs away*
    Permalink posted 01/24/2008
  5. HelenMarie says Time for me to hop on the bus! I don't have any of his albums but I know he's dearly loved and I would surely be hooked, it just hasn't happened for me yet! Love this song, but never saw the video and it seemed awkwardly cool.

  6. mister gary at work again says Yeah, RA is damn near amazing. Both his solo material AND Whiskeytown's work opened my ears to a lot of really great music I'd have never given a second (or even first) listen to.

  7. HelenMarie says Lizzie~ How did you know I was going to say something like that...you sneaky clairvoyant mama!

  8. Lizziegreeneyes says you know me... always in TUNE ;)

  9. kat3260 says SunnyD - Awkwardly cool is such a wonderful descriptor. I always dig it when the band members don't show their faces in the videos :) Mister Gary - I need to take a trip to Whiskeytown...that's one RA project I haven't explored that much. I know I will love it though :) Lizzie - polish your crystal ball and tell me when RA is going to tour, can you get in tune with that?? :O) RnR is a great album. Good suggestion thur. Anna - You may be able to resist the temptation now...but that monkey will be hopping on your back again before too long...

  10. Lizziegreeneyes says HE_AR_ HE _AR_ *Mike* !!! Well spaked ;) I have it on good authority that there's more than 2 editions (that was prolly in Kat's first week alone), but it may be this only her second post dedicated to the fine MOGoSphere responsible for creating a new type of crack for her to SMOKE !!! That's just this psychic's thoughts on the matter though !!! I see Victory summer beers in our future by the way hand*M* *Kat:* I will work on it and get back to you luv !!!

  13. kat3260 says Mike - Yeah...been on MOG for over a year now and this is only the 2nd edition. I _suck_ at writing thank you notes, if you couldn't tell :) Lizzie, love, how do you do it?? You knew what Mike was going to say before he said it! While you're trying to divine the Ryan Adams tourdates from your crystal ball, can you also find out when Trent is going to perform again? Keith - I do not know his catalog as well as Tool's either...but "Cracks In A Photograph" is another good 'un. Love the line "Ladies in the corner want to borrow your smokes as if returning 'em would do any good"

  15. kat3260 says I've never quite understood the Evil part of that anagram, cause in my opinion music crack is good stuff :)

  16. RGM says So it stands for Evil Music Crack D something?
    Permalink posted 01/24/2008
  17. kat3260 says Oh...wow...how did you manage to escape the whole EMCD saga? It originated with Chucky calling Dale an Evil Music Crack Dealer...and it just stuck :)
    Permalink posted 01/24/2008
  18. RGM says LOL, if it was during the Fedge era, I might have skimmed over it. A matter of fact I do now remember seeing those post. But probaly did a quicky read and didn't catch it...

  19. kat3260 says Oh man...the Fedge era...I had forgotten about that rabblerouser :)

  20. Marigold says woah. I did not see that Lizzie responded to me before I responded to you. TRIPPY!! Lizzie...YES!!!! Victory beer it is. I see it in the future as well. Heather (my wife) and I are holding out planning the summer east coast road trip. We are waiting to see if MMW will be touring the east mid May - June when we plan on being out there. Kat. (I am still getting to know you...Kat, Katrina....what should I go with?) No worries. I will let it slide this once. But I want to see more thankie posts from you....or else I will have to come out east and drink beer with you and Lizzie. :)
    Permalink posted 01/24/2008
  21. kat3260 says I'll see what I can find out about the MMW dates for ya Mike. Come drink beer with me and Lizzie? Wow...I might just have to keep slacking on the thank you posts in that case. I am a masochist you know. Mmm...Victory. Golden delicious Monkey :) Ps: you can call me Kat

  23. jameson says Oh yeah, and that red arrow button would be RA and the Cards - Always on my Mind
    Permalink posted 01/24/2008
  24. kat3260 says Now that he's crept into my soul, I can't imagine how I ever lived without it. I just never heard anything that grabbed me until _Easy Tiger_. It was that breakthrough album that made me re-listen to and fall in love with everything else I've heard
    Permalink posted 01/24/2008
  25. Marigold says Unless you have an inside connection and know something I don't know, I know they do not have any dates in that time frame right now. :( You like the Monkey aye? That is some good stuff. I really like all of their beers but I am a hop head and love me some Hop Wallup! MMMMMMyummy. Good to hear you like some good brewski. One side note about RA, I really went on a big RA kick for a while and then just felt overwhelmed with all the stuff he puts out. I had a hard time keeping up. I think I own everything up to Jacksonville Nights and then kind of lost a little bit of interest. Not that I will not get to his current stuff eventually. ....don't kill me Jameson. I really love the Willie Nelson cd, Songbird. It was produced by RA and it is The Cardinals as Willie's backing band. Great cd if you have not heard it.

  26. darmuzz says I managed to avoid Ryan Adams for a long time because I was determined that I didn't like "alt-country." It was listening to his cover of Wonderwall that changed my mind.
    Permalink posted 01/25/2008
  27. kat3260 says Darla - Same for me. I kept swearing that the alt country genre wasn't my friend...I stayed away from Ryan Adams, Drive-By Truckers, Uncle Tupelo, etc....basically all the good stuff hehe. So glad I finally came around...
    Permalink posted 01/25/2008
  28. Jammy Jeff says I didn't really know what alt.country was so I wasn't put off by his debut album and I've bought every one since then. He's such a consistent writer, and he's hardly put a foot wrong (unlike the folks in that video).
    Permalink posted 01/25/2008
  29. kat3260 says I love his writing...it speaks straight to me. Hey, that's how I dance :p What...no good? hehe
