MUSIC SIGNPOSTS ON THE WEB'S LONELY ROAD

It's been a long time, Mog. I have been busy with a young kid and a new job, at an alt-weekly in Minneapolis.

A piece I did on The Hold Steady just went up here.

You'll find all kinds of web content, including an interactive map, here.

Congrats on the gig! Did we know you had it? Hope all is well Jeff. Killer piece.

I never mentioned it--mostly because I had no intention of doing any music writing. It's mostly stories about cops (primarily of the sex crimes and immigration variety). Happy to have an excuse to come back to Mog, if only for a little bit. Seems like I can never find the time to write about music. I'd love for that to change.

Still listening nonstop to Numero releases, by the way...I owe you.

And didn't you move?

And wait...isn't this the month of the phonograph? I have work to do.

Hey, Jeff, welcome back, fantastic piece, really great. (They gave you a ton of space, didn't they? Whoa...next time I have to cut something back to 200 words, I'm gonna think about you.)

I interviewed Craig once, and have seen them a couple of times but not since they got so big...what a band.

Boy I miss your writing. Really enjoyed this article, very evocative - your words form pictures like no other, wish we had more posts from you lately. Bring back the month of the phonograph! I was just thinking of it the other day, but nobody else could fill yer boots.

So back in Minneapolis eh?! Nashville didn't pan out? Bet it feels good in a way. No time to start up a band I suppose..?

There is a band! No name yet. 3 other fellows from a bunch of local bands (Selby Tigers, Die Electric!, International Robot, The Monarques). It's really, really fun.

YES!!! That's what I like to hear! Me too, finally, after all that talk! We're also a 4 piece. Practice in an unheated church - top that for freakin' inspiration, haha.

What kinda sound are we talking about here?!

Nice piece in this weeks Pages. International Robot. Haven't heard that name in a while. My old roommate (now a Seattle transplant) played bass with Danny & Brian in the original incarnation. Has Die Electric called it a day?

Die Electric still exists, but is sleeping. Dave and Brian from Die Electric are both in the new band. We're playing the Triple Rock in early January. You should come!
