December is the month of the phonograph record. I made that up. But it is. I'll be observing it all month at my mog and I encourage you to observe it with me. At the amazing True Vine records in Baltimore, I bought:+ Phillip Glass - Glass Dance Pieces+ Debbie Harry KooKoo+ Stravinsky - Symphony of Psalms+ Manhattan Soundtrack (wrapped!)+ The Greater Antilles Sampler+ The Best of Rashaan Roland KirkAt a great sort-of-flea market in Williamsburg called Artists and Fleas, I bought:+ Guess Who's Coming Home: Black Fighting Men in Vietnam+ All Day Thumbsucker - The Blue Thumb Records Sampler+ Nevada Jukebox - 6,000,000 BuffaloAt Green Point's delightful Eat Records (serves breakfast all day), I bought:+ Tim Hardin - Tim Hardin 3 Live in Concert+ Emitt Rhodes - Mirror+ Munir Bachir - Meditation/Improvisation+ Odetta - Christmas Spirituals+ Stevie Wonder - I was Made to Love Her+ Charlie Haden - Ballad of the FallenAt Indianapolis' Missing Link Records, I bought:+ Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee - Back in New Orleans+ "Heavies for February 1973 from Atlantic, Atco & Asylum" Sampler+ Bessie Smith - The Empress+ Live at the Knitting Factory, Vol. 2At the Indianapolis Goodwill on Keystone Avenue, I bought:Neil Diamond - Touching Me, Touching YouGlen Campbell - The Wichita LinemanThat's it. NeilNathan says thanks so much to you for subliminally hitting me with phonograph record month hype so often that i was forced to indulge and buy myself some new faves sonny terry and brownie mcghee - sing (so good, their john henry is perfect and better day is an incredibly positive blues tune that i've covered and hope to lay down one day) sarah vaughn - american singer kenny rogers - the gambler (damn i love she believes in me, so touching ;), and the cover with kenny in full casino mode is incredibly cheesy and perfect) elton john - honky chateu jeff beck - blow by blow billy holiday - ain't nobody's business if i do willie nelson - stardust tony bennett - tony

  3. Davis Presley says Thanks for the declaration once again. It was a fun month, a worthy month, a month to buy more wax. Some were presents for friends, but most were for myself. Whatever it was it's all good. We now have 11+ months to spread the word. In Dec. 2007 it will be "Oh yeah... Christmas. I forgot about that. I thought you were talking about another celebration" A record shop that serves breakfast all day! Wow! I'm speechless.
