Just saw Lemontwists incredibly detailed map of obsessive compulsion and remembered there was a web app a few years ago which had that same type of function. check out http://www.liveplasma.com/ and enter a band/artist name in the search field and it comes up with the artists associated with them; for example I "typed Alice In Chains" and it fed me back this:

thanks for jogging my memory about this. It used to be called musicplasma, and may be a great way to discover new music. Lemontwist has more detail in her diagram, but women are smarter than computers, and we all knew that already.
No Really, I didn't make that up.

http://www.kickassclassical.com/ is a blog which catalogs the 100 most prominently heard classical music pieces and tells you where you recognise them from and who wrote them. From the Olympics to video games each song is attached to it's pop culture reference, so you can impress your parents and fake having a little class when all you really wanted to know was who wrote the theme for that Bugs Bunny Cartoon you used to love. Or Conversely, bore the hell out of your kids next time you're watching Family Guy. It's a win-win situation when you lisen to Classical!

Finally, after many years, the return of 24-7 Spyz debut album. I have been searching high and low for this out-of-print gem since some wise thief relieved me of my CD copy in the 90's. Last week we were reunited and I was instantly transported back in time.
For me, this album is a front to back banger. The Spyz cover ground from Kool & The Gang to Black Uhuru and still have time to dispense some nuggets of wisdom from Grandma Dynamite vis a vis the South South Bronx. Spyz rock in a style that amalgamates hip-hop, funk, ska, hardcore, metal & soul in a gumbo that defies any bullshit internet post, so I'm not even going to try.
Spyz dope, man....
we be outta here, like vladamir.
Oh yeah, good luck finding this joint. Although I heard the Spyz may be hooking up their own MOG sometime soon. We can ask them what's the deal with this record.
D-Y-N-O D-Y-N-O D-Y-N-O, Grandma!!

Sweet, this one comes up on my iTuens and I jam out. Jimi Hazel rox!
I got this shite in my iPod...but I'd have to point out that I think their BEST LP was Gumbo Millenium, yo...."We'll Have Power"...."Valdez"...P-Fluid's tha shizzle...I saw @ university when they were supporting their first LP that you're talkin' bout...NUYCE...but "Gumbo's" all that and a bag of Funyons in my book...if you find THAT SHITE let me know -- I don't have it anymore/ can't find it anywhere but I still remember that joint...great post, by the way... -cP

Damn straight! I'll have to check this out. Maybe try something a little more obscure, like....Gram Rabbit.
"Man Smart Woman Smarter" Listen gd93-04-02
This seems like it would be really cool, but I still don't know what I am looking at. I typed in Led Zeppelin and the largest bubble next to it is Neil Young. Do they go together somehow?
(I also typed in Full Metal Jacket and The Graduate popped up in close proximity... huh?)
