I Should, But I Don't - Five Artist Of Whom I Should Own One Album (But Don't)

Artist:
A fellow Mogger recently posted a list of 5 Bands that he should own albums by but did not. He also asked for other Moggers to share some of their "Shouda but Didnta" bands in their music collection. Maybe it is wrong to begin your music writing career on Mog by telling everyone what you do not have in your collection but there will plenty of future posts letting everyone know what I do have.
#1-Thin Lizzy - The Irsih rockers with legeondary singer/songwriter/bassist Phil Lynott influenced at least a quarter of the bands in my collection. "Cowboy Song", "Jailbreak", "Whiskey In The Jar" and "The Boys Are Back In Town" are songs I blast when they come on the radio. I could listen to these songs over and over again without tiring of them, that is if I had any Thin Lizzy CDs in my collection.
#2-Metallica - Being on tour with a band I learned by meeting different people that if you are a hardcore kid, indie hipster, metalhead or backpack wearing emo dude when Metallica comes over the PA you will all be singing along to ever song while headbanging away. Except for me because I do not own any of they Albums. Except for the big ones (ie:One, Master Of Puppets) I do not even know too much of their older material. My wife owns most of their albums. It's time for me to catch up.
#3-Bruce Springsteen- The Boss is an artist that Eric and I share in out "Bands We Should Have" lists. A few years ago Bruce came into a store I was working. He was very polite and blended in with the Christmastime crowd. He knew that we knew who he was and he was happy we did not make a big fuss over him. After he paid I saved the credit card recipet he had signed. C'mon, It's BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN!.His albums "Born To Run", "Wild And The Innocent" and "Greetings From Asbury Park" and so on are very good and definitely influential albums. I should own at least one of thse. Especially since I could even use his Credit Card Number to buy them...
#4-Stiff Little Fingers - Arguably the best punk band out of Ireland. Definitely the most influencial . In my collection I have the Bosstones doing "Toy Soldiers", Naked Raygun doing "Suspect Device", The Feds doing "Wasted Life" and The Goops doing "Barbed Wire Love". Why do I not have Stiff Little Fingers doing these songs?
#5-Nine Inch Nails- Since Lollapalooza #1 I have loved these guys, seen them on many different occasions. From the small Baltimore club the Grog And Tankard to Madison Square Garden they have always put on such a great show. Each album they put out became better then the last. Or so I'ved heard since I don't seem to have any of theirs discs. Looking at Amazon I now see "Pretty Hate Machine" is out of print. My 20 years of procrastination in buying this album seemss to have gone on just a bit too long

If my wife owns an album, I count it as part of my collection. She brought a slew of good stuff into the fold - Pixies, Misfits, Damned, The Cure, Smiths, Ladytron, etc.(and some bad stuff too) - Erasure primarily.
I'm shocked Pretty Hat Machine is out of print. That just can't be.
I'm also shocked you don't own Stiff Little Fingers. I don't either, but I thought for sure...
I actualy found out I had a copy of the original Garage Days cd so I guess Metallica would have to be taken out a replaced with Slayer since so many of the bands I do have stole their riffs.
At one time I had a SLF Greatest Hits live cd but sold it when I found out there were better recordings. Then I guess I never rebought any of their stuff.
Except for Metallica my wife has brought Joni Mitchell, Carly Simon and Stelly Dan into the fold... but se dd turn me on to Tim Buckley.
Until somewhat recently, I didn't have any Minutemen.
Ouch! I may have to delete you because of that...(just kidding of course)
welcome to mog, eric said to stop by and say hello. Good call on the Thin Lizzy, made me realize I dont have anything by them as well.
