WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

On the road songs

Posted over 3 years ago
Now I know I've already posted my fair share of mogs in one day, but hey, what can I say? I'm loving this site. It's wonderfully simple to jump into and feel involved in. Plus a lot of these mogs are making me think a lot more about music and I can actually get responses to questions I'm curious about, so I guess this sites doing it's job very well. That being said...I've never been a big White Stripes fan. But this song is probably one of my favorite songs I've heard in the past couple of years. Because it reminds me of hitch hiking to San Francisco with my buddy Jim, who brought his guitar. While thumbing it back we weren't having much luck on the 101. We took a break from hiking and he started playing this song and singing along. And he did it damn well. So well that I kept bugging him to play it again the rest of the way home. It's the one song that brings back the most memories of hitch hiking. It always makes me smile picturing ourselves dirty and exhausted on that scenic, curvy road; having a good time and not worrying about our lack of food and money and being stuck far from home. So I'm wondering what song(s) remind you of road trips, adventures, etc. you've taken?

  1. dylanharlem101 says Heya! I just joined this site yesterday and I'm absolutely hooked. So far, so good!! Tina Turner's We don't need another hero, brings me back to an almost hitch hiking occasion roughly 5/6 years ago. Up in VT. my sister and 2 cousins got lost hiking by some mtns. for pratically 7 hours! Walking beside the highway for that long, no one ended up stopping to see if we were alright. Cops passed by but as we tried to wave them down they simply smiled and waved and went happily on their way! haha It was a great experience now that I think of it and if it weren't for Tina we probably would've ended up God knows where.

  2. lemontwist says Gin Blossoms and Eric Clapton always remind me of ski trips, because that's what my friends and I would always listen to on the way to the slopes.

  3. Anna says Off the top of my head, I'll say Placebo's Post Blue. It reminds me of all the trouble (travelling & bankrupcy) I went through in order to see them live in September. That song was on my mp3 player during the whole time.

  4. Mister Gary says Back when I lived in Detroit, once or twice a year I'd go out on the road with some dear, dear friends of mine, the band Planes Mistaken for Stars. The first time out, I learned the importance of listening to Neil Young's Harvest as many times as possible while traversing the midwest. I actually ended up going out and buying a copy of it after the first few trips, just because I could put it on and flashback to those rad times on the road, which soothed whatever ailed me in my everyday life.
