Johnny Lokke's Metal Reviews - Dio - Holy Diver Live

Dio is a god among men, we all know that. So when I got a copy of his cd “Holy Diver Live”, I was ecstatic. This show captures Ronnie with his killer band of Simon Wright on drums, Rudy Sarzo on bass and Doug Aldrich on guitar tearing up the entire Holy Diver album. Just for good measure, the band throws in gems like “Gates of Babylon” (probably the jewel of the package), “Tarot Woman”, “Long Live Rock and Roll”, “Man on the Silver Mountain”, a ripping version of Sabbath’s “Sign of the Southern Cross” plus “Heaven and Hell”, and finally a couple of solo classics off “Last in Line”: “One Night in the City” and “We Rock”. Mr. Dio’s voice is a little rough here and there, but that just let’s you know that it’s live, and not some studio record with crowd noise dubbed in.
