SOUNDS OF FUTURE PAST AND PRESENT PERFECT

Damn You Trevor Horn!

Posted over 2 years ago
I love Kraftwerk's album 'Trans-Europe Express'. My favorite song is 'Showroom Dummies' (you can hear a sample on the right side of my mog page). The only problem is, everytime I listen to it, I hear two young Russian girls professing their plutonic love for one another over a killer europop track 'krafted' by the diabolical Trevor Horn, the mastermind behind some of my favorite guilty pleasures: Yes' "Owner of a Lonely Heart", The Buggles' "Video Killed the Radio Star", Frankie Goes to Hollywood's "Relax", Seal's "Kiss from a Rose", and everything by t.A.T.u.Am I going crazy, or is the chorus from "Nas Ne Dagoniat (Not Gonna Get Us)" straigt-up lifted from the aforementioned classic cut from Kraftwerk? Sure, the band's influence is expansive and could be the subject of one or more subsequent posts, but for brevity's sake: Is t.A.T.u.'s song a GAZ autobody with BMW parts? * unfortunately, the t.A.T.u. song is not in the Mog database, so unless you know what I am talking about, you'll have to hear it elsewhere. (maybe pick up their 'greatest hits' album. who says you need more than 2 albums to release one!)

  1. ivylander says If you love "Shworoom Dummies," check out the version by Senor Coconut. You will either loathe or think it's utterly brilliant. I tend toward the latter.
