Old Favorite

This just popped up on my computer while shuffling my entire music collection (I love doing that) and thought you all should hear it.
I love this song, I always have. I always felt the radio dj was my friend. They always seemed to be playing my favorite songs just for me and I'd record them on my red portable cassette player. How did I record all the songs? By holding the cassette player up to the speakers. Ah, technology, how far we've come. Here's a rip of the song from the 45 I bought when it was released. Enjoy!

What do you do when your favorite record shop closes?

Get sad, buy cds at 50% off, wonder where you are going to get all the latest releases by walking a couple of blocks.

Future Legend, in Hell's Kitchen NYC, is closing after 4 years. It's sad. The shop owners are great people and have been very influential in my listening habits over the years. I have bought hundreds of albums there and now I don't know where to go! The closest cd store is Virgin and I just can't bring myself to do it.

So this is just a little homage to a great place that will be truly missed.

Here's a song from one of the bands introduced to me by Greta at Future Legend.

I hope you all find a little record store where you belong.

I Miss Otis

Otis Redding died 40 years ago today.

I'm not old enough to have ever listened to him when he was alive, but I can thank my Mom for playing Otis Redding in the house when I was 10 to offset my Bee Gees obsession. I didn't know it then, Otis would become one of my favorites as I got older (and wiser. not that I don't still love the Bee Gees!).

Here's a great song by a great artist.

New Old Favorite

I have recently rediscovered this Who song. "My Wife" is a John Entwistle penned song. The horns, the drums... Enjoy!
